If it is not a large hole, you can buy a patch kit from the hardware store. It's a piece of screen and a pail of plaster. If it is too big for that, and the wall is made from sheetrock, you can cut out a piece of the sheetrock that the hole is in up to the middle of the studs on each side, cut another piece of sheetrock the same size and nail it in place. Putty up the cracks and paint.
