think 1st - the sad thing is that in the election you refer to, some people voted against republicans based on katrina, and the people closest to it know the truth, that Blanco screwed up, it was her state and her duty to handle the problem, and they have voted her out.

It seems like the citizens who still live in Louisiana have refused to drink the koolaid the liberal press and the DNC keeps trying to serve. Yep, they kicked the rascals out, and decided to bring in someone who knows how to govern. This Republican isn't a good ole boy who will put kickbacks in his fridge...things will be done in a professional manner now.

Hurricane Katrina hurt Bush and Republicans nationally but ended up hurting the Democrats mainly in Louisiana, Blanco and Nagin. Republican governors Riley and Barbor in Alabama and Mississippi benefited from their handling of Katrina. in Alabama Louisiana is one of the last Southern Democratic strongholds, at least as far as state elections, so the Democrats should definetley try to hang on and be competitive. The Lousiana Democratic Senator, Landrieu, is the most vulnerable Democratic Senator for 2008, in what otherwise is shaping up to be a good election year for Congressional Democrats, and one of the last Southern Democratic senators.
