OK I think I'm understanding, how about things such as "celebration dinner"? Is only DINNER the noun or can celebration be part of it too? Or is that just purely an adjective?? thanks again everyone!

We have to do all this crap about nouns too this week. So, I'll try to help you the best I can. I'm not really sure by what they mean about quality or idea. But, fingers is a noun. Twirled is not a noun. Only BIRDS is a noun. And Shack IS a noun. Hope I could help!

Twirled is a verb because a verb is an action. Dilapitated shack is an adjective because it describes the shack. Flock of birds I'm not sure what it would be considered. It might be a noun though.

Once the word can do something or u can put "is...." or "are....." after it its a noun. thats the most simplle way i can do it.
fingers, flock of birds, dilapidated shack are nouns. twireles is not its a verb because it is somethign you do.
Eg. u can say " the finger move" its doing something so it a noun.
the flock of bird fly. - they are doign somtihg
u can say twirled di somehting or is something it wouldn't mek sense but u can say"the dancer twirled" so dance would be a noun.
Lastly u can say" the dilapidated shack is ugly"
Hope u understand verbs now. good luck with ur homework

I don't know what they mean by a quality or idea, I have never heard of that description for a noun.
fingers is a noun ( a thing), twirled is a verb because it's an action. flock is an abstract noun (because it is a thing, but you can't touch it), and shack is a noun because it's an object.

idea nouns are words such as: happpiness, sadness, love, terror, fear, luck... they are simply imaginary, untangible ideas which you may not be able to touch but you know exist. fingers-yes
twirled-no it's an adj. or verb depending on how it's used
flock of birds- a flock is a noun. of birds is a prep. phrase.
diapidated shack- shack is a noun. diapidated-adj. describing shack
*diner is a noun, and celebratory is an adjective. you are right*

by idea, they mean things that exist only in human minds, not in the real world. democracy and fairness are examples of ideas.
qualities can describe something about a person. beauty, intelligence, and cleanliness are examples of qualities.
nouns: fingers, flock of birds, dilapidated shack
