I was wanting to know about other birth control methods besides the pill? What are they and what are the advantages and disadvantages? I've heard of doctor implanting something in your arm and it's 99.9% effective? Anyone know anything about that?

I think the birth control that was implanted in the arm was called Norplant or Implanon, but I don't think it's used anymore. I have had a Mirena IUD for 2 years now and I love it. Don't have to remember to take pills, don't have to get shots, and it's really convenient. They do prefer it if you've already had a child, though, since it's inserted through the cervix into the uterus. I personally hate birth control pills. I tried Depo for a while but it made me miserable! So many bad side effects, I think I would max out the word limit. Hope this helps!

Other forms of birth control that are available is the use of a transdermal patch that delivers the same amount of hormone as the pill does. Another method is receiving injections every couple of months. There are other methods out there as well, but these are the more simpler alternatives to the pill. Why are you changing off the pill in the first place? Are you experiencing side effects? You need to bring things like this up with your doctor. It will help him better decide what the best course of action for you is.

There is depo but I would never ever recommend that to anyone.

There is the patch, the implant, the IUD, the Nuvaring.

And there are plenty of brands of pills out there.

took the pill for years... told I couldn't get pregnant because my uterus was shaped like a "Y".
Funny!!!!! I did get pregnant....after almost 9 years of no protection! After I had my daughter I ended up pregnant again!! She was 6 months old. I am ashamed to say I aborted at 11 weeks. that was my right.
