I was driving 60mph, all of a sudden this machine gun-like noise (exhaust..?) starts and people nearby turn to have a look, it was noisy. It seems it came from "left side from the back of the car", when I stopped in traffic lights, the noise also stopped. The car has recently felt a bit shaky, even though the roads don't have uneven surface. the car is 1995 Saab 9000CD, automatic transmission. Just bought a new battery for the car. Any help/ideas/suggestions very welcome.

The car is moving ok, just makes this awful embarrassing noise even in low speed- so it's probably better I don't drive it until it has been repaired..?

I would get the air injection pump (smog pump) checked out. It injects air into cat converter and if not working you could get backfire. The pump may be bad, the belt may be broken/slippi,g or the system may have other problems.
About feeling shaky, have your tires checked for possible tread separation or low air pressure.

We own an Amana and I think that is now the same company. We had an extended warranty and a repairman came out to look at it when it wouldnt freeze as well. The fridge was also warming up. It had popped on and off since the day we bought it years earlier. The temp in the freezer and fridge were now up to about 20 degrees above where they should be. The repairman was stumped but called a buddy and he said it was pretty common and it was a fan motor I believe that circulates cold air from the freezer and into the fridge. When it went out the whole thing froze up and nothing was as cold as it should have been. He ordered the part and fixed it and that was a year ago. Lately its started popping again but is still cold. Hope it helps. Try googling amana or frigidaire popping sound or failure to freeze PS check the temp in your fridge. You don't want to be eating food from it if it's over 45 at the most. Easy to check it is buy a stem thermometer, fill a cup of water and sink the stem in. Then put the stem in the fridge for a while. We kept it in there while we monitored the situation and waited for the part.

Maybe an exhuast pipe rotted out and is flapping on the ground?

If it is driving funny it is probably that you do not use your emergency brake very often and it has bound up. Do not drive it or it could cause more damage. If it does it if the car is not moving it is probably the exhaust manifold.
