I mean, OK, he had some decent numbers last year, but this guy is more overrated than most. He isn't a two-way player, and he gets calls from the refs because he is a wee-man. Why is the media surprised that he is now showing his true colors?

yea couldn't agree with you more all the guy does is stand in front of the net and score garbage goals that just make his stats look good as far as im concerned very overrated.

No I don't.
He doesn't get calls cause he's a 'wee man... he gets calls cause what the other players are doing is against the rules & Gio gets called on jsut as much.. he takes & dishes it back out.
apparently you never saw him play in the AHL cause he does have a 2 way game... but then again this is suppose to be the first year the Devils have a 2 way game so don't talk about Gio NOT being 2 way player cause I've seen the games.
Ever year is different, som players do well for some reaon one year & trail off the next that's the game these days.
It could be he's hampered by a 'minor' injury we don't know of)

Actually his good year was 2 years ago when the opposing Dmen were still adjusting to the new rules. He's still a decent little scorer but it would seem that the 48 goal season was an anomally.

I love Gionta. If he had the cast arund him that Martin St. Louis has...............Gionta would be a household name. I still give the edge to St. Louis, but Gionta has some skills.
