The bookmarks that firefox shows is not the same as the bookmarks that My Computer shows. (altho, i don't know why i would need bookmarks if i am working in My Computer. but that's another question)
Anyway, i searched the computer for any file or folder called favorites or bookmarks and still don't know what's going on.
I had set up a bookmark called "A", for ease , to be organized later..;........well, it disappeared, but an old "A" still exists in My Computer favorites.
I want my 'A' back, it has a lot of stuff i didn't organize.
Help.

Usually your current bookmarks in Firefox would be an HTML file called 'bookmarks.html' at this location:

C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ xxxxxxxx.default

Replace your username and the random name (xxxxxxxx)

There should be a folder called bookmarkbackups which contain old versions of the file. Try opening them to see if its there.

go to internet explorer/safari
go to the favorite "a"
select it
copy the url from the adress bar of ie into the adressbar of firefox
press enter
go to bookmarks and select bookmark this page
