I am soo confused I can't follow what's going on. As far as I can tell, it was passed by the House and the Senate and then Bush vetoed it (heaven knows why) and now they're trying to get it passed anyway. Is that right?

The plan to expand S-CHIP failed with the veto. Congress is now working on a bill that will continue to fund the plan as it was originally. Bush has indicated he would sign a bill that does not change the scope of S-CHIP.

The administration cried that they wouldn't give a citizen of the USA any help because they earn to much money( according to bush). Yet this same person awarded no bid contracts to his corporate friends to reap very large profits from the very taxpayers that he claims he is protecting by vetoing the SCHIP bill. 10 billion dollars disappears in Iraq. Maybe we made millionaires out of a helluva lot of Iraqi government officials. But, the great "unite-er" has protected the American people from themselves! What bullsh*t. And a lot of people buy this simpletons antics.

The Democrats don't have the votes to override the veto.
Looks like a dead bill.
