it refers to you, such as "my pod". I own it. since they are personal music devices. Also since Apple launched a whole line of other "i" things, such as the iMac, iLife, etc. All to do with the personal approach to electronics.

"i" kinda means personal.....the pod means ur music player....it's ur personal music player
