Based on 300 generation at 20 years a generation, if only the last 3 generations are alive, that it takes 9 months to have a baby, and 54% of the population are female, how many children must each mother have to bring the population to present day figures of 6.6 billion?

Please show workings.

a generation happens every 20 years say, that was what I was given.
9 months is the gestation period of humans, this however does not take into consideration multiple births

This what we have to go on add your own model based on the info.

Aleks there are many variables but a simple model is ok, but please take death into considerartion, there is no info but shall we say that only the last three remain.

Define a generation and how 9 months is relevant? What is your math model?

Ok, a very simple model:

at age 20 each woman gives birth to 2 kids with 54% chance of female child.

Then the number of females in Nth generation is = 1.08^(N - 1)
Then number of females in 300th generation is 1.08^299 = 9.856B or total # of kids = 9.856 / .54 = 18.251B ...

if you add 2 previous generations you'll get ~50B population.

Considering that our model is very simplified and a real woman is able to have a children from age 14 to 50, we see that 6.6B is a really small number.

1.08^N is number of women born in Nth generation, not the sum of all women in all generations. Let me explain :
1st generation - 1 women
second 1.08
third 1.08 women (not 2.08) each had 1.08 daughters, 1.08^2 new born females and so on.

Oh, and don't forget 3 Noah's sons with wives! If Noah is "old" generation" and each of his sons had only 1 wife, than multiply everything by 3 :)

Either way they're both ludicrous and against scientific fact :) If it's the year 5768, then the earth was created 5758 years ago, because humans were created on the 6th day.

You're forgetting to take into account the Orthodox Jewish women who have (on average) 12 children each or the fact that some women don't have any children at all.

These numbers are skewed slightly due to other factors.

I was there when the great flood happened.
The Earth was nothing but a ball of water..(where all that water went..better ask god..)
However.. I saw Noah..he was the only solid object there.!.
He had over 50 million species of animals on board his ship..(the ark..)
The only problem was he forgot to bring a few females of his own species with him..(guess thats why were all crazy now...)
However please don't laugh.."My horse is still missin...!.".

A generation is considered to be 30 years.

you need to take into consideration the number of women who either can't or don't have children for whatever reason! (choice or medical conditions) which just help to prove it's all a load of BULL CRAP!
