Mechanical measures, hoe them out, dig them out, probably the safest.

You can smother them with paper or plastic if they are in a bed or similar growing area.

Vinegar will burn off annual weeds but do nothing for the perennial weeds as the roots, tubers, etc remain unaffected.

Tell us what type weeds and we can be more specific.

weeds grow for different reasons. identify the most abundant weed growing, do some research and you can figure out why its growing. some like very basic soil and some grow because of nitrogen deficiency etc. if its in your lawn than just spray herbicide. turf systems are proven to be the greatest filters in the world. as long as there is no run off you are not harming anything.

Think very hard about your question.

Synthetic broad leaf weed control works great.
Synthetic grassy weed control works great.

It is up to YOU to read and follow instructions.
When used correctly, there are no problems.

Aeration at least twice a year, proper fertilization and mowing will do wonders on keeping a lawn in shape.

Drink a beer, the get to you library and check out a few books on lawn care in YOUR area of the country.

vinegar, but it will kill other plants as well. And it usually doesn't do a good job on broadleaf weeds.

Hello,
Yes there is.
Heavy or more than one drenching of straight vinegar, will kill annual & perennial weeds. (plants of all varieties can't live well in soil of the wrong pH.)

Heavy quantities of table or rock salt

Corn meal, although Corn Gluten Meal works better

Ammonia.............Change soil Ph

Bleach.............. same as above

Dog Urine..........ph & salts from urine

Hot Water.........Temporarily

Any kind of cooking oil................smothers, kills weeds, and spoils soil in area applied, by killing soil organizms

Covering area infected with weeds, by applying coverings of soil, grass, straw, or brush, in order to block daylight, rain, or oxygen.

Hope this Helps some,
Dave
