I hear stories of people who are somewhat obese and didn't know they pregnant and then blammo - they have a baby. Is there any documentation of oblivious pregnancies?

Every few years you see one of these on the news or read it in the paper.

I know of one girl who barely showed when she had her baby. She was normal and slim, and most people just thought she had a bit of a tummy. They weren't really saying "Is she pregnant?" until about month 7 or so. So not every pregnancy means "beach ball".

So I could see with larger women (the one I saw on TV several years ago looked to be over 300 pounds) that they wouldn't notice the "problem" - especially if they had PCO. Polycystic Ovary syndrome means that sometimes periods are very irregular. Instead of producing an egg, frequently the ovary follicle grows into a cyst. These women are often told they will have trouble conceiving. A characteristic of PCO is that these women usually have all their fat as a big gut or "spare tire"; as opposed to normal(?) fat women, who tend to have very large buttocks, thighs, and breasts.

I suppose if you're not expecting it and don't think about it, pregnancy can sneak up on you.

Also, there's a medical condition where periods can appear to continue happening while pregnant. I've heard of 2 cases in my circle of acquaintances. Usually this stops about 3rd to 5th month, but it can keep going.

My friend's sister had this happen to her.

I think she thought she was just gaining a lil weight, but was fairly thin and didn't realize anything.

Until she was in the bathroom one day and delivering her own baby. True Story. Other than that...I haven't heard of any.

I don't see how any woman could carry a baby to term and not know she is pregnant. I could see not knowing for a few months, maybe even 4 or 5, but not all the way to the birth.
