I am glad that you were able to use a computer at the library, LOL
Check their information area while you are there-often local resources are on display that no one notices :-) Then contact them (& have hte info below available)
Contact United Way 211 and have the following information ready to determine eligibility for assistance from a variety of programs:
Name
Zip Code (Various Programs are available in different areas)
Yearly Income (Should have proof of same to provide when items are picked up)
Number of Adults in the household
Number of Children in the household
Next contact the Red Cross-they are not just a blood center, they provide relief in an emergency situation LOL
Also contact the salvation army-they offer some great information even when they can not help you
next apply for public assistance if you are not already receiving it. you should qualify for a bridge card at minimum during your crisis. Next ask your worker for the form to request an SER (Special Emegency Relief) grant. You can only ge tthis once in your life while you are on public assistance. Request an amount for first and last month rent along with security deposit for a new place. Also ask your worker for a referral to a program like Family to Family, Families First or Family Group Decision Making. These programs exist to keep your family together and prevent your children from being placed in foster care.
Go to this website and help make sure the holidays are bright. The goodfellows will give each child, from 5 -13, a holiday box whether or not you are on public assistance-their motto is no kiddie without a Christmas Complete the application on the website below and mail it in http://www.oldnewsboysgoodfellows.org/pdf/GOODAPP1.pdf
Good Fellows direct link to site if pdf link doesn’t work. http://www.oldnewsboysgoodfellows.org On the home page click on How to Get a Goodfellows Box. This will take you to the page where the Application is located.
Contact local churches-most of the bigger ones will help you.
For food for cheap $25 a month-they take the bridge card, click on the link to angel food ministries http://www.angelfoodministries.com/ or call them 1-877-FOOD-MINISTRY
hopefully someone will be able to help you and your family out.
GOD BLESS (there but before the grace of GOD go I)

Try the American Red Cross. Salvation Army possibly by giving you some donations from their retail store. Maybe United Way. At least, these people will know the best places to go. You might also try calling the fire department--they deal with this kind of thing all the time.
Good Luck and I do hope eveything works out well for you>

I agree with the answers above and wish the best of luck to you and your family.
Was there an article in the paper about this? Where was your house? We might be looking to adopt a family for the holidays, but I need to know more information about the fire/tragedy before I can say.

The Salvation Army is the best place to start! The media will usually jump on the band wagon to help get assistance for those in need! Good luck !
