I have been disabled since 2001. I will have my BA in Management in November. Is there any chance that I could find a job that is not a sales, customer service or scretarial job (otherwise entry level). I hear of so many people getting jobs after being home with their children for 10 years. One person got a job with the DEA after being at home for 10 years.

You are definitely an inspirational to all of us who are disabled, The federal Government is definitely the first quick place to start looking, go to usajobs.gov. I took an early retirement from the feds because of my disability. There was no other federal jobs close by I could move into. Good luck, I have no doubt you will succeed. You have already made it thru the hard part. Congrats!!!

You don't say what your disability is.. that is good because whatever it is it does not define you. If you haven't worked in the past six years but have accomplished obtaining a bachelor's degree, you won't send up the red flags that an employer might imaging when someone just has a six year gap with no explanation...... if someone asks you to explain state that you while in college you also took care of an ill family member (yourself) which did not leave a lot of time for outside employment. While job hunting try to pick a job that will move you into what you want to be doing if you can't start where you want... a job that is a stepping stone instead of a dead end... Good Luck!!!

Of course you will, I am 35 and have allowed carpal tunnel and a new marriage to a disabled vet to keep me from even my AA. My hat is off to you. Good job on the degree and may you find a very good, very secure government or municipal position with excellent benefits and pension.

Are you receiving any disability benefits from your insurance company or social security? If you are receiving disability benefits from your insurance company I would contact them and speak with the vocational rehab counselor about return to work assistance. If you are working with social security I would contact your state vocational rehab for assistance. If you are receiving social security or even long term disability payments you can receive benefits for a period of time while you are working.
