do you think something in their life happened to trigger this?

im just interested as to why some women are really into this, while others are against it.

it seems women are either all for it, or completely against it, and barely ever neutral about it.

because she enjoys sex, and doesn't think anything is wrong with having multiple partners. Of course there isn't as long as it is practiced responsibly and between consenting adults.

I think that we are all driven to have a lot of really good, really satisfying sex. I think that's the only "trigger" and the rest is circumstance.

Girl #1 : Oh, I'm waiting for marriage, never before.
Boy #1: I'd totally marry you.
Girl #1 : Yeah, how about you be my boyfriend?

3 months later

Girl #1 : Owww, you're doing it wrong.
Boy #1: I'm... umm... already finished.
Girl #1: WHAT?!!!!
Boy#1 : Oh, and your sister is really cute.

6 months later

Girl #1 : Wow, I didn't know it could be that good.
Boy#3 : My girlfriend is going to kill me.

2 years later

Girl #1 : So he was like, completely cheating on me...
Boy#8 : What a scumbag, I'd never cheat on you...

So on and so forth. So much emphasis is placed on the first time, and the ONE person... that when it doesn't quite work out that way, there is NO plan B.

"You can be a born again virgin! JESUS SAVES!!!!!" is not Plan B, sometimes people try to pass it off as Plan B... but it's not going to be terribly effective for the majority of young ladies out there.

So, lots of girls figure they've already had it and if they keep the number somewhat low then it's fine... and 10-15 years later... they tally up the number and it's pretty scary. Averages to 2-3 guys a year which is completely realistic... but the number is still intimidating... so she can either deny it and lie, accept it and change, accept it and continue, or turn her whole life around.

All of this stems from the ongoing male belief that women should be virginal. Another huge factor in this equation is how exciting and invigorating really good sex is... which is something many many people are completely inexperienced in.

First off this is a womans question and if those answering are not women or psychologist they are just guessing at best.

Second there are many reasons besides hormonal. But the most important reason is that a parent failed to establish self value in that person when they were a child.

It is human nature to want to be loved and accepted. Sadly many women sacrifice respect and dignity by thinking that allowing others to use them will earn approval when it really just makes them a convenience to be used.

What makes a person a person is what that person takes into his or her mind. It is like feeding off the exterior world. With all the garbage out there from Bitney Spears to Penthouse Magazines and a world of other smut and dirt, it is no wonder to me from my perspective. A person not so much becomes what he or she wishes, but a person is a product of his or her environment. If a woman likes to be promiscuous she obviously lacks discipline, the same for a man. Sex is great but it has got to be kept in its own league because once sex becomes excessive, then you have an appetite (sex appetite) which may seem interesting at first, but as with anything, there is always a price to pay, i.e. mental problems, body problems, unwanted babies, abortions, sexually transmitted diseases, and the list really is extreme all because people want instant gratification and could care less about the consequences, then when it is time to pay up, all of a sudden it is no ones fault but the opposing factor. More could be said about being out there doing the wild thing, but we all know it and what is going on and in this day and age it does not take a rocket scientist to tell any of us it isn't right nor political correct to say sex is okay when in fact it has its place, which I won't get into because it is not what I believe, it is what is in the perspective of sexual reality.

One reason a woman would become promiscuous is that a little devil, sitting on one of her shoulders, told her to become more promiscuous Another reason, obviously, is an alien implant. Nothing in their life triggered this: Shoulder-sitting demons do not discriminate and, well, we all KNOW how those aliens are.

EDIT
I really like the reasoning of the following response. No guesswork involved there!

Regarding triggers, I've noticed that if a woman is of independant means and is not currently seeking marriage proposals she is free to be disinterested in labeling. Both of these factors are often found in women with normal to high self-esteem. Rock on ;)

People have offerred a variety of reasons, many of which I believe apply in certain cases. I wanted to add another, which only describes SOME cases.

A woman with undiagnosed bipolar disorder may, during her manic phase, become very promiscuous and engage in high-risk behavior. When they revert to the depressive phase, this is often expressed in feelings of self-loathing and withdrawal.

In some cases, this is mistaken for a simple "binge and purge" phenomenon of 'acting out" sexually then regretting it. It sometimes is misdiagnosed as "sex addiction" and the underlying disorder goes undiagnosed and untreated.

Here is a case where stereotypes and judgments about sexuality lead to people failing to receive proper medical care.

1. Some just like sex and have no hangups (much like most men).

2. Some do it for re-assurance that they are attractive and needed (low self-esteem).

3. Promiscuity is also a symptom sometimes present in illnesses such as manic depression (possibly the mental/physical need to produce endorphins).

I think curiosity is the main reason. If they are in a relationship then something is obvioulsy lacking and if they are single, I think some women are more promiscuous then others based on theiir personal traits. Heck I donnno, does any guy really know why a woman does anything that they do????? :-)

There are many reasons, economic, social, peers, etc., but research indicates the quality of the relationship with the parents is a very significant factor, especially with the father.

Here are a few findings from the research which I referenced below:

"...Teenagers who feel that they have a high-quality
relationship with their parents and who communicate
regularly with them are likely to initiate sex at a later age and behave in less risky ways than their peers..."

"Based on what we know to date, it appears that positive father-child relationships, and the involvement of the father in the child’s life, are related to less risk-taking and better development on the part of the child."

Uh, because she wants to, and I don't know why people feel the need to judge and analyze her for it as though "promiscuity" (however that's defined) is some psychological disorder.

How is this different from men being promiscuous? Where are all the lectures about how promiscuous men didn't have good relationships with their mamas or have low self-esteem?
