9/11 who believes what and who ?

Question

Did the government do it - did they plan and execute the death of 3,000 people that day in order to further their own political agenda ?

Did it happen exactly as the government said it did - 19 men took over a plane and crashed it into a building because Osama Bin Laden told them to ?


Was it pure incompetance on the part of the government that allowed an attack to happen and if there is any cover up it is the government trying not to look like they should have know better ?


Somthing else completely (what ) ?

Somewhere in between those choices (which ones and how far this way or that way)?

Two planes did not make three buildings fall down. I'm sorry, it's just not possible. 9/11 was a very calculated planned attack. I don't know how they did it or even who did it, but I know who couldn't have done it without a whole lot of help.

I figure it's somewhere close to the "official" story, but there are coverups for failing to act in the best interest of our nation. No bombs in buildings, just a lack of action to use the event as an advantage. There were some warnings, and other investigations that were stopped. There were weird stock manipulations, and other small inconsistencies.

The problem is, the conspiracy crowd has littered it (purposefully?) with too much garbage to focus on the little glitches. The little glitches slip through by hiding in plain sight. It's easy to call someone a wacko when they spout the whole line (with hook and sinker) - and point to crappy video's on the web. It's harder to bring up things we forgot, or don't think is as important.

Take nothing for granted, as there are coverups we all see everyday that become news for a day or possibly a week. But don't let strawman arguments take away your rational thought.

EDIT: To Moody Red. "President Bush restored dignity and respect to the White House!" What are you smoking? I voted for Bush, and was severely disappointed!

EDIT2: For the anti-conspiracy crowd, of which I think I'm a part of - Don't use weak arguments like "what happened to the people on the plane" or "how long would it take to wire a building up", or even what you guess might be the number of people involved. You aren't a terrorist (I hope), and you wouldn't know how it was planned - so your conjecture is just as bad.

Lets say the gasmask's dropped down, and instead of oxygen, some other gas knocked nearly everyone out. Then the plane was remotely controlled into it's final destination. That would make a great movie wouldn't it (had 9/11 never happened). Look up the Lone Gunmen, pilot episode, aired in 2000. Chilling to see that again once I got the box set. I had forgotten about it.

Lets say the building needed wiring upgrades, and the PA chose the lowest bidder. Lets say the lowest bidder was a front company, run by who knows who, foreign or not (we have so many illegals here, who know's who's who). They looked like they were installing cisco routers and other cabling, and other wiring to everyone passing by. They had security access to nearly everything at the core. What if the routers and equipment had dual purposes? How many people would it take? Maybe 20 a building? maybe less? What if they were all not US citizens? Arabs overstaying visa's? others? Wouldn't they be able to keep a secret? Sounds like that's out of a movie or Crichton novel too. If you can enjoy a show like 24, this isn't that far off.

I don't believe any of that happened, but it could have - so those are weak arguments. Focus on the rest that makes the "conspiracy" unbelievable. One caveat - I think there might be a case for the plane that was downed over PA, or at least a need for an investigation. Even if it was shot down, it probably was the best thing to do at the time - in light of what happened that horrible day.

9/11 occurred exactly as the government and the 9/11 Commission found it to have happened. But the government was culpable in so much as it allowed the airlines to manage themselves on the flight security side of things.

The US is unique in the industrialized world this way, as everyone else already had a professionalized, nationalized transportation security force in place at airports and on airlines. The reason for this was that the airlines had, for years, pushed back hard against any suggestion of stricter regulation of security - because that might have cost customers an extra 3 bucks per ticket, and you know how cheap the flying public is!

The result was a workforce in place at the time that was compensated similarly to workers in fast food - that's how much they were valued, and no doubt that reflects the training, or lack thereof, that they received.

So, in other words, free enterprise and market solutions were very much causal to the chain of events on that particular day.

[ADDED] Moody Red, you've posted a pack of lies. Clinton was bombing Al Qaeda throughout the 90s, and the fiction about denying a shoot order with Bin Laden in their sites is just that - a fiction. Even the screenwriter who wrote the tripe you base your "knowledge" on has said as much.

The first statement I reject. How can the goverment planned such daring plan and nobody ever noticing it? How can you put high explosives in the twin towers with so many people entering and leaving such huge buildings every day and nobody ever noticing? And what happened to the passengers of these four big jets? Hiding in Elvis Presley's Graceland mansion or in Col. Sander's museum of "Kentucky Fried Chicken"? Am I sounding ridiculous? Of course! The all description of the conspiracy theorists [more imagination than Walt Disney!] sounds superridiculous. I don't believe it. It is obvious that Islamic terrorists did it. Nothing against Muslims in general. But let me add something else: I think somebody in Washington and Jerusalem knew that something was coming. No, our gov't did not do 9/11. To explain some points that were raised:

1. Bush's brother was not "head of security"

Marvin P. Bush, the president's youngest brother, was on the board of directors of a company that provided security for the WTC (Stratesec) from 1993 to fiscal year 2000. He was not directly connected with the electronic security the company provided. Additionally, they did not provide physical security.

The members of Board of Directors simply meet twice a year & take the report from the CEO, decide on stock dividends, things like that. They don't "do" security!

2. Plane wreckage at the Pentagon

There are numerous photographs of large pieces of the plane, many of these were published in the newspapers. Here’s a nice picture:

3. Plane wreckage at Shanksville

Multiple planes parts were found in Shanksville, an engine fan being the largest piece found (Pop Mech, “Debunking 9/11”, p. 87).

4. Yes 2 planes can make 3 buildings fall down & in fact they made 9 fall down:

The following buildings collapsed on 9/11: the 110-floor Twin Towers, 7 World Trade Center, the Marriott World Trade Center and St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church. Note that St Nicholas church was not in the WTC plaza, but was destroyed by debris from the twin towers anyway.

The following buildings were massively damaged & had to be demolished: 6 World Trade Center, 5 World Trade Center, 4 World Trade Center , & the Deutsche Bank Building (which also was NOT in the World Trade Center Plaza)

It was a half assed investigation on the governments part.

There are half assed theories coming from a good bulk of the CT'er crowd.

I'd support a second investigation from a neutral party.

The Clinton administration was warned of the threat that said we would be attacked using our own airliners. He did nothing. He had Bin Laden and denied the military or intelligence in apprehending him, even though he was aware of the danger this man presented.
He cut the military to levels of those before Pearl harbor. He undermined the intelligence agencies. Clinton left us vulnerable to attack. Sandy Berger hid the truth, stealing documents. Other people knew what Clinton did however but because of Berger, there was no concrete proof.
President Bush was in the process of restoring our military to a more viable one and increasing intelligence capabilities when 9/11 occurred. It was a travesty and to believe a Christian president would hide this or even could from the people is the one of the most ridiculous things I ever heard!
President Bush restored dignity and respect to the White House!

The Islamic terrorists have been attacking Americans all over the globe including American soil for over 25 years with pretty much impunity - why is it so damned hard to accept that these attacks finally culminated in the events of 9/11?
The alternative is to assume that the American government orchestrated all of these attacks also - and frankly, if you believe that, you truly need serious, professional help.
