i'm doing this thing called Model United Nations for my school. we choose a country and then write a resolution about a specific problem in our country and what we would like the UN to do about it. my country is Japan and i'm hoping to do our resolution on the illegal sex trade/human traffiking going on in the area. does anybody have any good web sites that i could go to to find some facts or something about it?

thanks!

Firstly I would look up web sites of the UN, either of UNESCO or UNICEF or just the UN. Look for info on the "Rights of Children", 'Women's Rights" etc.
Secondly, google the term "Age of Consent Internationally", and you will get information about the ages of consent in different countries. In the US it varies from 14 in Hawaii to 18 in other states. In Canada it is 14 while in Australia it is 16 while the age of marriage in Australia is 18.
Thirdly, just look up (google) 'Sex Slavery' or 'Sex Slaves" or 'White Slave Trade' and there will be a large number of sites to visit, some with statistics.
Fourth, google the term "Yakuza", which is the Japanese Criminal organisation that runs a lot of prostitution, slave trade and bars in Japan etc. You will probably see articles on girls from the US being tricked into prostitution after signing up to be "dancers of entertainers".
Fifth, Look up Geisha's by google. Somewhere it will tell you that Geisha's are not prostitutes, but are entertainers and only rarely have sex with clients, and that the girls who train to be Geisha's loose their virginity at 15, whereas it used to be around 11-12 in previous times.

I hope this is helpful, without actually doing your homework for you.

I've never been to Japan but there are some. I think there is a district for them. And Geisha's aren't prostitutes. They're entertainers. People who aren't familiar with the culture mistakenly think Geisha is another term for prostitute. But in reality they're very talented entertainers/hostesses with years and years of STRICT training behind them. I'm not saying there are NO Geisha's who don't prostitute themselves, it's just not what a true Geisha is. It's not the profession

Prostitution is legal in Japan, so it'll be difficult finding stuff on the illegal human trade of minors. Prostitution is actually ran by the government in Japan, which is why they have a lower AIDS count then most countries.

Prostitution is legal in Japan and illegal here. But there is more prostitution here than in Japan.

Why do you not write about white slavery going on in Arab, African and other Muslim countries, most of which are Bush's friends?

Do a Google search for the CIA Fact Book. That should give you a start.
