9a = 6(a - 4)

3a = - 24
a = - 8

Is the () supposed to be a + 4 if so then

9a = 6a + 24

Subtract 6a from both sides

3a = 24

Divide through by 3 to get a alone

a = 8

If it's 9a = 6(a-4)

9a = 6a - 24

3a = -24

a = -8

i am going to guess that you mean a + 4
in that case
1.9a = 6(a + 4)
2. 9a= 6a + 24
3. 3a= 24
4. a= 8
:)
