This Halloween I'd like to be a ragdoll, but I have no idea how to go about doing it. The ragdoll costumes in the stores are expensive, so I'd like to make it.

If you have or know how to put together this costume, leave a step by step guide.

My budget is under $25, so please keep that in mind, and I don't mind using old clothes.

Thanks!

$25. This is a tough costume for 25.

Buy a bunch of red yarn for your hair. If you are using a hat, use some tape to tape it. Take a few pieces and make it into braids. Tape the braids inside the hat. Just work on it until it looks like hair. If you aren't using a hat, it's probably easier if you buy a rag doll wig. That's probably around $5 of your budget.

Any tshirt will work, though I'd use one that is a little tight on you.

Then buy a short skirt. Hopefully you already have one of those--if not, go to a fabric store and get a couple yards of a gingham pattern and sew some elastic in the top. If you have to do that, it will be around $5. No more than 2.00 a yard if you buy it.

You'll need some crinoline underneath it. Ideally a petticoat off ebay would be great--but that would be around $10-15 and exceed your budget. It depends on how much of this stuff you already have in your house. If not they sell crinoline at the fabric store as well. You can wrap it around and sew it straight down the side.

Lastly, the bloomers. Bloomers are rather difficult. One suggestion is to take some white sweat pants and get the legs shortened so that the elastic is more knee/midcalf length. This should be about $6. Then get some lace and attach to the bottom of them (buy this from craft/fabric store while you were getting the yarn and fabric for skirt). Another suggestion is to make it yourself. I dont know what your sewing skills are but this would be beyond mine. If you don't like sweat pants, you could try some white capris from a thrift store and just adding lace or ruffles to the bottom. The idea here is to get something like this

That will use up the rest of your budget.

So rough estimate of costs
yarn $5
bloomers $10
tshirt already own
short skirt if you don't own $5
crinoline/petticoat all over the board. On ebay right now I see it from 99 cents to 22.99. Look up either petticoat, crinoline, many stores that sell poodle skirts sell them. If you already have the short skirt, you'd have roughly $10 left of your budget for this. A party store might also sell this.
