You can put fliers and make calls to people that you know. My barber has a shop in her basement and she gets really good buisness. You just need to get all of the things that you need for your hair, a miror, a few chairs and some magizines and your ready to go! You can probly get good buisness depending on your nieghbor hood. HAVE FUN!!!!

The people I know who have done it just bought the equipment and went to work. You would, obviously, need the clientel to get started, but if you already do hair, that shouldn't be a problem. Some of them were at least in school working towards a license, though.

You have to be zoned for it, get the permits from the city, have a health inspection and fire inspection done, and register as a business with the state through your department of revenue.

Be aware that if it's residential, you may be barred from having a sign out front for a business, and excess traffic parked on the block may not be allowed.
