i am doing this biography for english do i have to underline or put in paranthesis the title of a movie or a song?because i have no idea?

It depends how formal the paper. You would need underline, parenthesis or italics.

songs titles are supposed to be in quotes, as are short story titles. Movie titles are italicized, unless it is handwritten and then you may underline the title.

(parenthesis) are not used for any sort of titles. they are for clauses that the sentance would be correct without, but might give a little extra detail. you shouldn't need to use parenthesis in your essay at all.

The way we remember the rules is to underline (when handwritten) or use italics (typed) when it is a larger type of work such as a magazine, novel, or album.

You use quotation marks with the subparts of those bigger works: quotation marks go around articles because it is a sub-part of a periodical, song titles because it is a subpart of an album, and short stories and poems because they are typically subparts of a larger book.

It is easier to remember it when you get a handle on whole and part. :)

you shouldn't underline the title, instead put it in italics
