They are not always intentional. Some areas in California are very dry. Lighting is usually the cause of wildfires. But the probelm in California is not actually the fire. California has a lot of "protected" wilderness where its illegal to cut down trees. Well, how do you stop a wildfire?? You make a fire line by elliminating any fuel, like trees. California laws prohibit create fire lines in there wilderness, thus there is no way to stop a wildfire in California. It has to burn out on its own. The only thing that can be done is dropping water on the fire, and thats not a very effective method.

Im a Southern California Resident.. I live her now.. Air quality is officially unhealthy as we speak.

But what happens is: Southern California is very dry it rarely rains here and when it dose its never enough just an inch or so maybe 3 inches in a complete year. Due to that the vegitation all around Southern Cal in the high desert and mountain area suffers by drying up and becoming brital.. and the homes built around too. We have this thing called the Santa Ana Winds during this time its very windy here and you can see for miles around the city cause no smog or clouds. Well Dry brush + hot weather 80-100 degrees+45 mph winds = Wild Fire every year this happens to us some years not so bad this year the worst I have seen since 1993

Some people intentionally set the fires.. However these came due to the Weather, and there was a report of a Welding accident in Silver Lake.

No, if they were intentional why would we be tring to fight them constantly? They are started when a stupid camper doesn't put out his/her campfire or some kids play with matches. But really if the is a dry piece of wood or some dead grass it can accumulate enough heat to combust and causes fires.

Sadly, many are, attempts to defraud insurance companies. Handy if you have negative equity.

Of course some do occur naturally as a result of lightning strikes.

when they don't get enough rain ..the areas become very dry and grass becomes very brittle..They are having a drought problem..And if anyone throws a cirg or something hot on the grass it will enight..Also lightning strikes causes fires..whether it hits a source of electricity or hits a tree etc..
