No! I know for a fact someone who just paid $1,500, and another who paid $1,200.
BEWARE THOUGH --- One of those person, had just got the player stole back from the original owner!
Can happen, and real easy.
note:- Some can go as high as $2,000.
I just want to add; those people who don't know the game, never heard of the game; The game is not a cult game, but more of a role/ quest game. Your player is made towards your imagination. The quest is about accomplishing goals to get to higher levels.
E bay for one ; sells these players; even has it's own section.

Keep in mind its against WoWs TOS to sell the account.
And on the topic of selling accounts, most expensive account ever sold was about $10,000 in Europe
The character had the Twin Blade of Azzinoth set (Best weapons in the game right now)

$800 is extreme, but for a level 60 or 70 character with a ton of gold and FULL epic level gear it is possible.
It is illegal, the end user agreement you have to say yes to to play WoW specifically forbids it. It could cost your friend their WoW account, but it is possible.

Yes you can. Those characters are usually decked out in all epics, tier 5 and above. Accounts don't sell as high as they did before BC came out, since everything is more readily available for the casual player.

you are not supposed to but it defeniltey happens. they can go for more than 800 dollars depending on the character. a friend of mine sold his for 1500
