I completely agree with Jolly Roger. All of this was created as a way to control people by the ruling class of the time. Remember, people have believed in superstitions since the beginning of time. Evil is man's inhumanity to man and nature. But in order to avoid taking responsibility for man's own mistakes, he will invent stories like the devil or demons made me do it.

Basically that religion was created for two reasons:
1. To explain why various things happened, like How the Earth came to be, why bad things occur, and why we're here
2. To control people and govern social interaction. By creating a good and an evil, it encourages people to follow the rules and be a good member of society. The others are just parts of the story to explain things or even just for entertainment.
