Why the hell do people who do not live in this state think we all own million dollar homes?
This is a very serious disaster! What is up with all this hate spewing?
There are a half of million people being evacuated from their homes.

Because that is what is being hinted at by the NY-based media. In June of 2001 I returned to my native Brooklyn after a 44 year absence. I met with a group of guys who were native Brooklynites as well. The shock on their faces when I told them that I now lived in a county in Nevada that was larger in land area than the entire state of New Jersey was a sight to behold.
They have no point of reference about California and the American West. So, they think all of use just work on our tans, live in mansions by comparison to the rabbit-warren apartments they reside in, and have no worries at all. At the same time they constantly crow about how urbane and sophisticated they are. Pitiful.....

I am saddened by it myself. Those who lost 70 homes in my neighborhood were just normal people raising their families, working their jobs, some were retirees and some were young couples who saved for their first home. I think, however, we all should be proud for helping those who needed it to evacuate and thank those who didn't for bringing supplies to the evacuation centers. We also have a governor who became involved, declared the state of emergency to open the door for assistance and worked with the Mayor to utilize the military. Also, the care for people's pets, large and small, is to be commended. Life as we know it has been put on hold which has opened our hearts to each other's plight.

Because they are arrogant. They are watching the news and all that is being shown are the two worst fires.... Malibu and San Diego. Both areas have million dollar homes that are being burned. That is more of a "drama" for the news stations, so they stick with it.
Its just uneducated and arrogant people. I really hope they see the light soon.

I agree with you. A lot of people thinks that we all own million dollar homes. It not true. Most people around here are middle class including myself. My friends are not millionarie.
True, it is a very serious disaster here. I don't know what wrong with you people. Everyone here are very caring compare to you guys (fot those people say we're rich and we won't care about them or whatever).
