I'm right there with you.
Like this question - I am totally winging it. But now I have stopped to think of something witty and fun today, and since I am coming up with nothing, I will hit preview then send, and I will end up at the bottom of the page anyway.
Others, I do put thought into them. Depends on my mood, the question, how much time I have to devote to YA's.....
So now I wonder if you will read my answer, as it is so far down - do you read all of the answers?
And in about 2 minutes I will think of something more to say, so I will have to decide if I want to edit or just leave it alone.

I agree that it depends on the question. Most of the time, if it takes a lot of thought, I'll just move on. If I think the question is really interesting, I'll do some research. Then there are the times that a funny or witty answer just pops in my head.
I hate it when I start answering and it takes some time because I want to get it right and by the time I submit the answer I end up on the 2nd or 3rd page.
And yes, I still use the term "wing it". lol

I try to give the straight forward honest not being a smart a$$ answer I would prefer to receive upon asking a question. I generally stay in subjects that I feel like I have a clue on the answer. I don't answer the question if I don't feel like I can help the person, unless of course its very obvious that person is just messing around and really isn't worried about getting a 'good' answer, but I generally don't answer those either, maybe I am too serious, but I don't get alot of opportunities to 'hang out' here so I guess I like to feel like I have made a positive impact when I am here.

I have the same experience. I want to take my time and be as thoughtful and sincere as possible but ,when I do, I end up with a million answers ahead of me. Still, that's the way I continue to answer because I don't see the point of giving an answer that isn't straight from the heart and well thought out. Those are the answers I want to GET when I ask a question so those are the answers I give.

same as some times i take my time depends on the question and whether i think it's worth takin time in givin answers like if the person is askin for advice i would take my time and give an answer that i would of given if i had been asked it face to face, but i hardly ever reread what i have written so it usually ends up with loads of spellin mistakes. sometimes i come on here when i am really bored and answer short questions and give short answers purley to get the 2 points (how sad lo)l

For me it really depends on the question and if I know the answer. I'm not one to just throw out an answer like...maybe your right...and go on to the next one because I got 2 pts just for doing that.
I'm also not always first...because I do go into detail with my answer. Some seem so simple...so I figure if that person doesn't know what to do to fix it...I need to give them as much detail as I can so they will understand how to fix it.
I learned years ago...It's not worth doing...if it's not worth doing it right. I hate having to fix something twice...so I make sure it's done right the first time.
I didn't read all the answers on here...but I hope you got what you were looking for...so give me 10 pts....ha ha ha...just kidding.

Same here if it's a light hearted question then I will try and I really do mean that lol to be funny, but if I know it's going to be a popular question and I'll end up on the next page of so then I might aswell take my time.

Depends on the question. Is it a serious question, or one designed to take up a person time? People still do say wing it, as you proved in your post. :)

Depends on the question. A serious, thoughtful question elicits a serious thoughtful response. A silly or stupid question gets a snappy answer. It also depends on whether I already know the answer or if I have to look it up first.
