It's very wrong. People with Down's Syndrome can be very responsible and contributing members of society. Many of them hold steady jobs, and they are loyal friends.

We ( I mean disabled ) people seem to bring either the worst or best in people.....generally people are kind and understanding but there is a minority that are a mixture of ignorant and unknowing....when people don't understand something they don't like it, that is because they don't understand it and that scares them....they will never admit to being scared so they get bolshy and come out with nasty comments which they think makes them look clever....then comes the sheep syndrome with their friends laughing at them and therefore encouraging more distaste.......one thing that I did was keep all the silly messages.....then made it my business to find out the perpetrators behind everyone of them..the easy thing was taking their photo's..the next step was to put their photo on their comments and the final task which was best of all and had an effect was ............stick them up on the post office and community centre windows and the local health centre and take aways........I'm sure you don't need to ask what the consequences were...and yes....it stopped the idiots remarkably quickly........ god luck and god bless you....

I remember when I was in Elementary school, there were special ed classes. At recess some of the kids would gang up on those smiling children and call them names, and throw rocks. As a child I found that type of person repulsive and as a adult I am sure they are still not nice people. There are alot of bad people in the world, and many make excuses for their behaviors.

People are often afraid of things they don't understand. If a person is different, they get picked on because it makes other people feel like they are better somehow. I know it is hard, but you need to try to ignore the cruel messages because those people just don't understand and their opinions don't matter.

I know what you mean. People can be absolutely horrible and cruel. My girlfriend was born with Crouzon Syndrome (facial deformity, fixed through 7 surgeries) and people were horrible to her throughout school. I guess the people that pick on others are just ignorant and have low self-esteem so they feel like they must pick on "the little guy" to make themselves feel better.

Its not just people with down syndrome who are affected it is anyone with a disability, maybe a speech problem or a cleft lip. And they are made fun of, beaten up, even killed. Its cruel and not fair. I feel for any person who has to deal with bully's, I wish there was punishment for all the bully's of the world!!

Some people pick on what they deem to be weak because it makes them feel stronger, but rest assured that while that is not nice there any many thousands of people out there they don't think that way. It is just unfortunate that nasty people happen to be loud about their opinions.

Pure total ignorance and stupidity.
Ignore the crap in this world. These people are unworthy of your time.
Anyone who picks on a person with downs syndrome is sick.

A strange and unfortunate aspect of human personality is that, in order to feel better about themselves, some pick on people who they feel are weaker than themselves. This is often manifested by people who already feel somehow inferior to others. Make sense????? Difficult though it may be, try to feel sorry for them - they are compensating for their own issues. Truth is, you are likely a better, stronger human than they are!

Some people need our pity. These mindless fools really do! What is lacking in them and their lives? Something definately is for them to feel the need to behave like that!
It makes me really sad to think that in our so-called modern thinking, liberal society, there's still people with so much prejudice and so much narrow-mindedness?!
