Find the base when the amount and percent are known
amount / percent = base
First convert 25 % to decimal
remove the % symbol. divide 25 by 100
25 / 100 = 0.25
divide 18 by the decimal
18 / 0.25 = 72
The base is 72

First question:
Let n be "the number"
Then: 18 = 25% x n
Divide both sides by 25% or 0.25:
72 = n
Second question:
Let p be "the percent"
Then: 18 = p x 60
Divide both sides by 60:
0.3 = p or
30% = p

Well, to make it short and sweet...
there is 100% in a number and that number is X correct, now you have 25% which is 1/4 Do you get it so far? Ok now in order to get the full 100% your going to have to add 3 more quarters and each quarter is equal to 18 correct? Ok, being that said your answer should be 72
well take care
