I am interested in going to school, but I have a very hectic and unpredictable work schedule. An online school seems like the only possible solution, but I don't want to get ripped off with a cheap degree that is not worth the paper it's printed on. If someone out there knows a reputable school or had a good experience of their own they would like to share that would be very helpful. Thanks in advance.

Try the Open University in the UK. They specialize in remote learning for people who have other commitments. They have been going for decades and have are fully accredited.

Good luck!

Harvard, Stanford, UMass, Johns Hopkins, Florida State, U Florida, UNC, Columbia, E. Tenn, Marshall, Purdue, Texas Tech, UTx, UC (several campus), CSU (several campus), West Virginia, DePaul, Boston, Penn State, Northern Arizona, SUNY, Syracuse, U OK, Jacksonville State, U Illinois, U Iowa, U Maine, U Missouri, this list goes on and on and probably includes a couple universities in your own state. All of these teach online, almost all of them offer degrees/diplomas online as well.

Those people who say that all online education is bad are just ignorant. Let's see - go to Local Community College in the classroom or Harvard online? hmmmmm let me see, I bet the community college is better. riiiiiiight.

Just be careful about the school you pick and pick the best school you can get accepted to. It's all about the reputation of the college not whether online or traditional.

Don't think that this is the easy way -- online courses at a good school are harder than the same course in-the-seat. Also don't expect these to be cheap. You can expect them to cost as much, and maybe a little more, as going to the campus to study.

You first need to decide what you want to study (subject), what level (associates, bachelor's, master's), and the level of the school (proprietary, non-selective, selective, elite). Then you can narrow your choices.

A list of every school with a degree online would be a book (probably by Dr. Bear). Almost everyone is teaching online these days.

add: Donna, spell cheque! You're making your college look bad. One advantage of online courses is that we write a lot. So much that you won't be posting that sort of message after getting an online degree; you'd have been laughed out of class. USC, UCLA, and CSU-LB teach online by the way...

Hello,

Make sure you look deep into the online college before you get into it. There are a lot of them that rip you off. One person that answered you question said University of Phoenix. Well im sorry but that one has a bad wrat. One place you can go is www.ripoffreport.com and search for the college. That website is a part of the Better Business Beuro. You can find a lot of interesting things about them. If its bad about the college it will be on there. But please be carefull when choosing one. I wish you much luck!

If there is a 'good online college', I would love to know about it. Sorry, I have a bad habit of comparing every type of school to a university. I would suggest that, if you're planning on going to college and actually doing something with your life, try community college, and then show them you are capable, then apply to a university. It will certainly be worth what you lose by taking the time off of work.
