No they can't , I know this because i am currently an executor and it was one of the questions I had to answer - am I or have I ever been bankrupt?

unless it has changed since i was made bankrupt 12 years ago then no, you cannot be a director of a company or a school govener or the executor of a will basically you are not allowed to be involved with anything that involves dealing with other peoples/companys money.
