i have a project for school where i have to make a device that can measure a minute of time. it can go over a minute, i just have to know when a minute is also with 5 or 10 second intervals. it needs to be creative and not mimic other time devices like a hour glass. and it doesn't need to be too fancy. okay thank you!!!!

What you need to build is an escapement mechanism. This is a mechanical device which regulates speed. A pendulum of a clock is use to operated an escapement which limits how far a gear can turn.

The link to the pdf shows how to make a simple escapement using string and straws.. The escapement regulates the speed at which a weight drops by unwinding a cord wound around the shaft.

Take 2 wood poles ( 1 shorter than the other) attach them to a base...then attach a string at the top of each pole
with a bead on it ...then the bead will slide down to the other side ...the Point is you have to decide ...
how tall the poles should be
... how far apart they will be ..
.also how tight the string is to be.....
think hard you'll get it...
