I'm burning a CD of the best movie and TV theme music. Some of my personal favorites are A Beautiful Mind, the score to the Star Wars trilogy and Out of Africa.

What are YOUR favorites? If I see any new ones I'll add them to my playlist!

I'm so glad you asked this question - I LOVE good soundtracks and there are some here that I will have to check out. Some I have that aren't mentioned here are:

"O Brother Where Art Thou" (I love Alison Krauss and there are several good ones here with her)
"Cold Mountain" (Some great, unique type music - also Alison Krauss)
"City of Angels"
"Coyote Ugly" (some really fun music!)
"Brokeback Mountain" (love that guitar!)
"A Walk to Remember"
"The Big Chill" (can't believe no one mentioned that)
"Saturday Night Fever" (ditto that no one mentioned that - maybe I'm one of the few who LOVES oldies!)
"The Passion of the Christ" (the music worked so well with the movie)
Someone mentioned some wonderful John Barry soundtracks, but forgot one of my all-time favorites: "Somewhere in Time" (beautiful movie and music!)
Also - how about "Dr. Zhivago" - a classic!

As far as TV, I loved "Everwood" and have the soundtrack - some great music

Theme Music specifically:
If you like Star Wars, some other good John Williams is Indiana Jones, the orchestral themes from Jurassic Park, and AI has a good score of his.
James Horner, who did Beautiful Mind, did a great score for New World, his Titanic themes are strong and I really like his Braveheart.
John Barry's Out Of Africa is good, and his Dances With Wolves is wonderful, as are his Bond scores.

Others I really like: Michael Nyman's score for Great Expectations is incredible, as is his for End of the Affair. Hans Zimmer has some spectacular resounding action themes, including True Romance, The Rock and Crimson Tide.

The Departed has an incredible soundtrack as do most Scorsese films. Also The Rules of Attraction and Gladiator are great and Requiem for a Dream soundtrack is a masterpiece.
