The alternator should keep the battery charged and compensate for any discharge whilst the engine is running. Whilst stopped there will be some obvious discharge from the interior light, but if the battery is good, shouldn`t drain it enough to prevent starting, and once the engine is running again the discharge will be made up.

It will have NO effect while you're driving (as long as the alternator is working and the battery is in good condition).

With the engine off, a good healthy battery would have no problem running an interior light for 3 hours without detriment to starting performance.

While driving, you have headlights on sometimes? That does not run your battery down?
When the engine is off and your interior light is on there will be current drain, of course. But your light is probably 10 watts. That's just under 1 amp. Your battery is rated at, say, 50 amp/hour. That means you can leave your interior light on for about 50 hours till your battery goes flat!

While driving the battery will not run down but while your car is parked you have a tendency to lose the battery power. If your battery is new and at least 66amp it should not have an affect however if your battery is a smaller or a lower amp or is an old battery it may not have enough power to start the car but not necessarily

On my car if I turn the engione off the lights go out too. Otherwise, yes, 3 hours when it's parked will run the battery down. Not when you're driving, though, as it's recharging
