I am leaving/selling my childhood home in Texas, and going to Massachusetts. I thought it might be a nice reminder of home if I could bonsai one of the tiny Oaks that are in the back yard.
Also, I understand that this is a fine art, I'm sure I will be able to find help with the larger process in Boston. But as of right now, I don't want to go digging up the back yard if it won't do me any good! In addition, if there are any websites that may help, that would be great, Thanks !

Yes, but not as a beginner. You'd need to know how to keep the little guys alive....they are not houseplants!! Would depend where you are going to live in Mass, an apartment probably won't work because of sun as well as wintering requirements. Here's a site that has links.

Bonsai is a life-time study.....I wouldn't attempt an oak until
you have decades' experience. Still, even if you keep it alive for a year or two, it's a good learning experience.

I have heard that any tree can be made into a Bonsai, but I am not sure that this is true. A sapling Oak is still quite large and it most likely not fit the criteria of looking like a mature tree, in miniature. The leaves and the trunk may not fit the model.

I would encourage you to research further. My parents had a Japanese Elm that was just beautiful. Please see the links below. The climate and environmental conditions are crucial.
