How long does it take you to upgrade when the next generation of consoles are released ?

I always see a lot of people discussing Ps2 games and Xbox games and to me I think of those systems as obsolete so I was wondering if there is a lot of people that are still using those old generation systems.

I usually sell off my old system about 3-6 months before a new system is released and then purchase the new one(s) when released. This being the first console generation where all 3 systems were too expensive to bother getting all 3...

I usually get a game console around the time when it comes out. I bought my PS2 and PS3 about a month after they came out, I got the Original Playstation maybe 1 year after it had came out. I kinda like to be one of the only ones that have a new and hot console on the market before anyone else does.

I never would sell my old consoles because it's good to keep the old consoles in case something happens to your new one or just to hold on to some good memories.

PS2 on launch, boring, no games.

Waited a year after 360, caught a wave of great games. So I'm gonna guess come the next turn around of consoles I'll wait a year. Depends on the games, sony would have my money now as well if the line up wasn't so poor.

Wish I'd kept older systems though, worth it for the nostalgia.

I dont plan on getting any new console, when Pcs are much better, with a much bigger selection of games, better graphics, and its much cheaper to pop in a decent video card then shell out 600 dollars fro a new system thatll be obsolete in a couple of years. I built a really good pc for as much as a 360. , and it can play every game coming out in the bext two years.

I still have my slim PS2 but I have upgraded to the PS3 and XBOX 360 Elite. I'm "in the works" on getting a Wii. But when I got my PS2 (the original one), it was already 3 years after it came out in 1999-2000. I got it in 2002. I didn't get the original XBOX or GameCube.

I got my PS3 and XBOX 360 Elite this year and I love them both.

I try to get it when it comes out unless the system doesn't have any good games. I wanted the PS3 last year but it didn't have any good games, now I'm thinking of getting it because I saw Metal Gear 4.
