you need to pick a topic you know something about - and that you can find enough information on to write about. One way to do this is to think of topics that students around you are talking about - some school issue like whether to have an open campus during the day, or using metal detectors and having armed guards, increasing the parking for students, letting students take classes at the nearest college for college credit while in high school.

write your topic in the middle of the paper and then think about all the different things you could write about it. it is sort of like a free form outline. draw lines from the topic to the ideas. then break down the ideas to smaller pieces.

when you have a lot of lines - you'll have a lot of ideas to write about. if you don't have many lines, try another topic.

it is a good way to dump a lot of material from your brain to the paper.

good luck

there are a million topics you could choose - i suppose the best and most persuasive one (and the one that will get you the best marks) will be the one you feel STRONGLY about...... i personally have some health issues and have trouble finding doctors who will listen to me - in fact so do a lot of other people i talk to.... my suggestion is to write about the lack of health care from people that are supposed to "help" - that we put the care of our LIVES in their hands - perhaps the government should be doing something about this.... there are a trillion new diseases and disorders due to "modern day living" but barelay a single doctor who will listen and provide answers or help for the people who suffer....... alternatively you could do something about god being a cruel bastard - men and women are "designed" to be together but we find it so hard to get along with the opposite sex! cruel or what? at any rate the paper you write needs to be something you feel passionate about and it will be convicing then to the reader (teacher).

I did one about birth control... should you need parental consent to get birth control from a school nurse? It is actually a hot topic now... it was just an idea when I was in high school. Pick if you think they need parent's consent or not and persuade your class... make up your mind and do not even remotely give a positive to the other and you'll do really good... I did! :) Good LUCK!

The drug METH. A one time experience of (to good to be true feeling) that turns into a lifetime of nightmares for both the user and their family. Help keep someone from taking this one time experience by addressing this topic. Thank you.

I chose whether public schools should seperate the sexes, it's an easy topic with lots of refrences.

Against/with plastic surgery
Sexual images in the media
Gay marriage
Online piracy
Women's rights (in other countries that are not as developed)

But I really like your animal testing idea - I'm against it {the testing}, and I'm sure there are tons of others who are too.

XOXO,
Laurie

How about open campus vs. closed campus, or a modified school schedule where you operate more in line with a college campus?
