To me Christmas has gotten very commercial. I did celebrate the holiday growing up but now it's just a paid day off work. I'm just wondering do most people celebrate Xmas because it was taught and do they really understand the so called holiday traditions and what they really mean? What about the peganism associated with Xmas?

Exactly the main reason I have given up on Christmas. Much more commercialised now than say 50 years ago. Most young people now a days do not have an idea of the true meaning of Christmas.

For the Christians, Christmas is a day to celebrate the birth of Jesus. I know it was originally a pagan holiday back when the early days of the Roman Church got their hands on it, but I don't know what it represented.

the true meaning of Christmas is celebrating the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, when he came into the world a helpless, sinless baby and grew to be a powerful, sinless man and died on the cross to save us from having to pay for our sins. imagine that sight, a baby in a manger in a barn and a giant star above it with many people surrounding him just looking at him, a baby that never cried, because crying is complaining and thats a sin.

I celebrate Christmas because it's the day Christ was born.

I find it ironic that you replaced "Christ" with an "X," seeing as He is the sole reason for the holiday...and therefore the answer to your question.

We celebrate it as the birth of Jesus Christ, but we decorate and give presents because it's a part of our culture and tradition.

I personally celebrate Christmas as the birth of my savior Jesus Christ. How other people choose to celebrate it is up to them and I do not judge them for it.

Jesus, JESUS, JeSuS!!!! That is what Christmas is supposed to be about. The commercialism has gotten pretty bad, but I try to stay focused on the real meaning.

We celebrate the Christ in Christmas--we celebrate his birth and his miracles. Each Christmas we concentrate on those whom Jesus prayed with--we listen and feed the homeless, we donate our clothes, we do what we can for those who cannot care for themselves.
