Technically the interstates in the US are free. However, the most direct routes are often the turnpikes and parkways which are toll roads. Also there may be some bridge tolls. I278 or the NJ turnpike will be a toll road as is the Verrazano Narrows Bridge. Have about $15.50 USD available, you can pay exact change or stop and pay at the booth. Just have $1, $5 & $10 available

I would say less than $5, but that's from NJ turnpike to PA turnpike and then you will have to pay for the PA turnpike. There are some bridge tolls too. Probably $5 too. The real question is exactly where are you going in PA?
You should bring small bills $1s, $5, and $10s, but as long as it is less than a $20 they can break it.

They are really cheap some are 75 cents some are a dollar or more. It is much quicker if you have the right change and some of them you just throw the change in a bucket and it is automatically counted. If you haven't got the correct money they usually can change bills for you but it will take longer. Best to take quite a few dollar bills.

Tolls vary depending on state, location & direction. You haven't specified what part of PA you are going to, so it may be more or less, but best to carry around $50, in $5's & $10's, to cover tolls. Google or yahoo search NY Thruway, NJ Turnpike, & PA Turnpike, if you are going that way to find out rates, traffic, etc.

$9.00 to cross the Verrazano Narrows Bridge

From there, I-78, I-95 North to I-80 or I-95 South will take you to Pennsylvania.

They differ, but they are cheap.

Just have a roll of 1 and 5 dollar bills handy and you will be fine!

Don't be put off by the uniforms and the officious manner of the collectors...they are really nice, and helpful if you need them to be.
