The Duckling
"I want to be new" said the Duckling
"O ho", said the wise old Owl
While the Guinea hen cluttered off chuckling
To tell the rest of the fowl.
"I won't be a bond slave of habit,' that child of a duck went on
"Do you know" said the Turkey
"There's a fox creeping up through the rye"
"And if your not utterly lacking"
"You'll make for that duck pond - Goodbye"
But the ducking was as perky as perky
"take care of your own flesh" he cried
I am sorry I can't remember the rest. It was 53 years ago.
I think it was Hillaire Belloc (not too sure of that either)

It was a dark and stormy night,
The oars creaked in their rowlocks (pronounced ro'locks).
The Captain said "The starboard side",
The 1st Mate said "Aye, Aye Sir"
Mary had a little lamb,
Full of fun and frolics,
It tried to jump a 5 bar gate
And landed on its nose.

old king Cole was a merry old soul and a merry old soul was he,
he called for a light in the middle of the night to go to the lavatory,
the moon shone bright on the Albert hall as the candle had a fit,
as old king Cole fell down a hole and came up covered in sh1t.

I had a little pony his name was Dapple Grey,
I loaned him to a lady to ride a mile away.
She whipped him and she lashed him,
and she drove him through the mire.
I would not lend my pony now for all that ladys' hire.

Hey! diddle, diddle,
The cat and the fiddle,
The cow jumped over the moon;
The little dog laughed
To see such sport,
And the dish ran away with the spoon.

'Twas on the bridge at midnight
Her lips were all a quiver
She gave a cough, her leg fell off
And floated down the river.
