for when someone is speaking to you..
not in quite a condescending manner but they are very short, unfriendly with you
i.e=like the way alot of the staff in a doctors office talks to people,
i wouldnt exactly say the receptionist was ''condescending'' to me but she was very short, cold, unfriendly
whats a professional way to word this??

ok, well you're talking about me - not that we've actually met! Just call me uncaring. I can call myself other things but that's the most professional word I can think of at the moment.

My answer would be either the slang term "snippy" or the word patronizing, because if they are ln an unfriendly matter, then it's probably a choice of these.

i call it blunt, to the point, cut and dried. i have a tendency to speak like this at times...it's not meant to be rude...it's expedient...a time saver in a busy environment.

patronizing means condescending.
I think what you have described is more like "discourteous" or "abrupt"

for a receptionist, it would be unprofessional...someone not in a professional capacity, it would be snide...
