The going rate for scrap metal is 4.50 a hundred So figure I get a little better than the 100 figure my time and gas so I would only give you 40 or 50. Put an add to sell parts and let people come buy what ever they need. Do a search for what the tranny and some other should be worth. If the tires are good or after market wheels keep them to sell. I bought a running wrecked c1500 and have made 400 so far and have parts left to sell. The thing is how long can you let it set in your yard to sell parts. Some cars I have not been able to sell nothing off of and others in a month be stripped. If you sell the doors and such before interior then keep it covered.

Some parts sell very well on eBay. Front side marker lights, and especially tail lights.
Try and concentrate on parts that wont cost a fortune to ship. Even though the buyers will have to pay the shipping, its hard to sell a tranny that is going to cost 100 bucks to ship. If your interior is in good shape, you can sell the console ( if your car has one) and door panels will sell well. Also, exterior trim labels that people are often missing, like the "Cougar" symbols, and any hood trim. Electrical switches and even some of the glass, especially the passenger side door window may sell quickly. Go onto eBay and see what Cougar parts are selling for to get an idea. You could also advertise locally, and see if anyone needs the nose (front fenders and hood) and even the windsheild. You could have a couple thousand dollars worth of parts, its just a matter of finding a buyer before you have to get rid of the car completely.

Parting it out is a totally better idea. If the tranny is still good and some of the other more expensive parts sell em. The junk yard will prolly offer you less but you'll have still made more from the parts.

clean it like very good....i wouldnt suggest getting it detailed but clean it very good urself...sell it on Ebay as parts car, or fixer upper...you might get at least $500.. i wouldnt suggest parting out the car...because your going to have to get the body of the car towed to a junkyard..and thats probally gonna cost you more than what you made..

Yes, you could make more selling the parts, but finding the buyers may be hard.

They usually do not offer much.
Sorry to here about your car.
I would say just take it to a junk yard. That way you are not wasting time, money and etc on it.
