When a majority of the Republicans supported the bill?

Also read the facts, and not propaganda.

Here's a fact you missed, they don't control by much.

Let me guess, I should trust Fox News, Worldnetdaily or other biased Conservative sites.

I trust factcheck because they go after BOTH parties evenly. They take BOTH sides to task.

It's obvious that if you don't agree with something it is automatically liberal.

Almost all 50 state governors supported SCHIP as well, and the vast majority of them are Republicans as well.

This is a losing issue for the GOP. Somebody needs to take Bush aside and let him in on the news that the GOP is going to pay dearly for this veto, come Nov. 08.

Sick, crippled children ALWAYS trump war and war funding in the publics eye.

Factcheck.org is a liberal rag. They claim that President Bush misrepresented the expansion, but they try to prove it with misrepresentation. Go beyond the BS and read the proposed bill.

Factcheck claims that President Bush misrepresented it by saying it would cover those earning up to $83,000. (THIS IS ABSOLUTELY TRUE!) Then they call it a misrepresentation because an ESTIMATED 70% of those who would be added would earn 1/2 that amount. (This is also true) but 30%+ of those added would be OVER THAT 1/2 they are referring to. It also adds illegals.

Then factcheck claims that SCHIP was not intended to offer coverage only to the poor...this is not true, either. That is EXACTLY what it was designed for...the original bill STATES THAT. This was to expand it to more low income families, but reached beyond the low income.

Further, Bush proposed $55,000 as a cap....those same 70% as well as around 10-15% more would have been added at this level, WHEN YOU DISCOUNT ILLEGALS, WHICH SHOULD NOT BE INCLUDED!

Oh, and if A MAJORITY of republicans supported it, as you claim, then they would have had enough votes to override it, so you are wrong, too.

caldude...you really should work for a newspaper, your sensationalism would fit right in with the Lame@$$ (LA) Times.

ADDED: ROFLMAO!!!! Go look at factcheck for a while. They go after republicans for breathing wrong. They go after democrats RARELY, and certainly do not go after them hard.

SCHIP is a tool right now to slam each other using the expression "for the children" so I resubmit my earlier response:

Already in place it is called SCHIPs, been in place for sometime and still one third of parents who are eligible for it or Medicare have not enrolled. Before we add a higher level of income to an existing program we need to insure that the current (poorest of the poor) children are covered. Are you interested in children or interested in bashing bush? I am for the children of this country and strongly believe that the House should play the most important part (both parities). They have districts, if they could go door to door to get votes and drive the poorest to the voting booths then by god they can do the same for the children in health care. They and their staff have plenty of time away from Washington to do just that, four weeks off for labor day would have been a perfect time.

I have seen nor read anything from anyone who really cares for the children, just a political stance.

Uh...please let them continue to blame Democrats for seeking healthcare for children. I want to be a part of the party that is pushing for this. I hope they continue to hold us responsible for trying to help fellow Americans.

Democrats were responsible for writing the bill. Democrats control Congress. Democrats were responsible for bring the bill to a vote. Democrats were warned of the President's plan to veto the bill, and they voted for it anyway.
I blame the Democrats.

If Republicans vote for that rotten bill, they'll get the blame, too. Right now, it's largely a Dem effort.
