broken irrigation component?

its called pressure vacuum breaker. The water started leaking out the top. I removed the screw down cap and found the plastic piece was broken. can i replace this with a regular cap or should i replace the entire valve section?

Replace the whole valve. It is a safety device that prevents contaminants from being sucked into the water supply.

It won't work if you replace the cap with a regular plastic cap'
