I'm taking my boyfriend to Vegas for his 30th birthday, and we're trying to figure out what to do there other than go to the casinos. We went earlier this year and ended up spending all our time in the casino and at the Circus Circus arcade. We're not nightclub people, nor do we like artsy shows like Cirque de Solei (sp). A comedy show would be good, but it's got to be something funny. The last comedy show I went to ended up being lame. We would eat, of course. Nothing fancy. What else is there to do in Vegas that's fun and won't break the bank?

...and I'm not into strangers invading my personal space, so no massages. Thanks everyone for all the suggestions. Maybe we'll look into Wayne Brady. He's usually pretty good.

Check out www.vegas.com. Seriously. If you're looking for a show, input the dates you'll be there and you'll get a list for every show out there during that period. You can also find restaurants, clubs, shopping, tours, etc. on that website. I was out there a month ago so many of the shows when I was there won't be there now. Are you staying at Circus Circus? We stayed at the Luxor and found a burger joint (called the Burger Bar) that had some awesome burgers! It was between Luxor and Mandalay Bay. We didn't do nearly as much as we wanted to because I think we were just plain exhausted from work, school for me, national guard for him, and being in the beginning stages of planning our wedding. But...take my advice and check out Vegas.com.

Go to the dinner show at the Excalibur. See if you can catch The Amazing Johnathan while you're in town. He usually plays in the smaller clubs downtown.
When we went last, we took the helicopter ride out to Lake Mead and the Grand Canyon. That was very expensive but the memory will last a lifetime.
Have fun!! I'm jealous.

Check out the Wayne Brady show at the Venetian. Enjoy the best buffet in the world at the Bellagio. Take a gondola ride at the Venetian. See the lions at the free exhibit at MGM. Go swimming at the pool where you are staying to rehab.

Valley of Fire is about 1 hour North of Vegas, beautiful desert landscaping and natural rock formations. Hoover Dam is about 30 minutes south. Most of the hotels offer spa treatments, look into couples massage, if he is into that. Lake Las Vegas is a nice area and Lake Mead.

I could spend hours in front of the Bellagio fountains, but that's just me! If you like roller coasters, the one at New York, New York is AWESOME!!! The Improv at Harrah's is a really fun comedy club, and reasonably priced. I'm with you, we're not really into clubs either....but the piano bar at Harrah's is alot of fun...it's small and FREE, and hilarious! They do kareoke from 5-9pm, I think, and it's a riot! Hope this helps!

There are still tons of things to do in Las Vegas besides gambling, shows, or strip clubs. Here is a list of activities, and the good part is that most of them are free.
