Ba+2 ion would do it

Ba(NO3)2 is soluble, BaSO4 is not

so add some BaCl2 (aq) to the solution .... if you get a ppt then you have SO4-2, if not you have NO3-

This is the classic sulphate test.

Using Barium Nitrate a white precipitate of Barium Sulphate will occur.

Ba(NO3)2(aq) + H2SO4(aq) = BaSO4(s) + 2NHO3(aq)
