It would be top of the line when you got it back. I always upgrade a friends property before returning it. It's a weird habit I have.

If you gave me your heart
I would treat it with care
I would nuture and love it
and repair it as much as I dare
For the scars in our hearts
the wholes in it too
show just how much
we give or ourselves, it's true
for every hole is a piece given away
every scar filled by another's
so I ask you today
You want your heart in better condition?
so I take a piece and give it to me
and put one of mine in return so you'll see
that you now have a most beautiful heart
Sharing it with others, it the BEST part

I don't lend anymore. NEVER have I lent something that I either didn't get it back, or IF it was returned, it was broken. So, being that I'm not a borrower or a lender, I can't answer your question.

Well, I only do when my heart (metaphorically speaking) is returned back to me in worse condition then when I shared it with another person.
I try to avoid that from happening, but realistically, it may or may not occur, that is a risk in giving one's "heart" away or sharing it with others.
However, my views on love are also much broader than that.

Hi Joe, If we were a couple I would take very good care of your heart and when I gave it back it would be in a much more loving way.
A Friend,

I always give things back in better condition than when they left their original owner. Always.

if you gave me your heart, i'm keeping it.
yes, i do hate lending stuff to people. our neighbor (who we really like) has had our ladder in his garage for almost 2 yrs.
it never fails, either we have to hunt the person down or we get it back broken.

Well yeah, I would dust it off and show it how to beat vibrantly again. Then you would have to maintain it.
But yes I am really hesitant on letting people borrow things.
