i was not afraid of any appliances, but me and my brother were afraid of the bathroom at night.
years later (when we got drunk together) we realised it wasnt the bathroom, but the bathroom monster we were scared of.
it turned out to be the cat we had back then, it used to attack your ankles as you passed, and scared us each night!

The TV! I do have a good excuse though, it was 1953 (We got it to watch the Coronation) not many people had TV's! I was terrified I'd be shrunk and put in that Tiny Box. It took a few years and a lot of explaining from my very patient Grandad about how it worked to convince me it was safe!
The dog and I both kept looking behind the Box for the people!
Now it bores me instead of frighten me! I probably watch it less now than I did then and it wasn't on more than a few hours a day!!!

When I was really small we had an old-fashioned washing machine with an electric mangle on the top. It looked like something out of a Tim Burton movie with mouth and eyes. On top of that when it was washing the clothes, the motion of the motor made it move across the floor! Mwhahahah!

The Refrigerator. My mother had me convinced that if I left it open more than 30 seconds it would blow up. To this day, I am in and out of that fridge in a hurry.
