If you go into bios and it shows your system booting off the hard drive and it shows the proper type of drive but it won't boot something probably didnt go right in the installation. It takes a while to "apply the computer settings", especially on a slow machine, when windows first boots up after the install and, if the hard drive was running and its activity light was flickering, you may have messed the install up if you didn't leave it alone long enough to let it do its thing. Its usually easier and quicker to just reinstall the OS than to pull your hair out for hours trying to fix a bad install. Make sure you have a good partition format it then reinstall it. I

Umm.. I hope that's a pirate copy! I'd hate to think you'd splashed out a small fortune on a copy of XP for a computer worth about £20. ;-)

I agree with Dawn, XP will install quite happily on a computer with those specs so there's something not working right. a full format of the hard drive (use NTFS) sounds like the best option.

You may need more RAM. I thinking XP need a minimum of 512 MB RAM.
I was wrong, XP only need 128 MB RAM. Here a little infomation and the link may help you.

Here's What You Need to Use Windows XP Home Edition
•PC with 300 megahertz (MHz) or higher processor clock speed recommended; 233-MHz minimum required;* Intel Pentium/Celeron family, AMD K6/Athlon/Duron family, or compatible processor recommended
•128 megabytes (MB) of RAM or higher recommended (64 MB minimum supported; may limit performance and some features)
•1.5 gigabyte (GB) of available hard disk space.*
•Super VGA (800 × 600) or higher resolution video adapter and monitor
•CD-ROM or DVD drive
•Keyboard and Microsoft Mouse or compatible pointing device

1. need more memory
2. I would have a bigger harddrive
3. faster processor and maybe new motherboard

I can run on 384 mb of ram and that hard drive but it would be slow and wouldn't be good for gaming just only to get online
