What about the people that have insane amounts of answers and still have a high Best Answer Percentage? I understand if you have like 10 answers and 5 of them are Best, but when you have 200 answers and 100 are Best. Or if you have 3000 answers and 1000 are best.

I'm at 46% now in level 5. (5000+ points). I got there by answering carefully and clearly what I know best. If I do not know the answer, I back out of the question. If someone else has a great answer, I don't answer, just hoping to get best answer anyway. If I can't put a new twist on the answer, I go onto another question. Even if there are a dozen other answers, and I really think I can answer better, I will go for it, and have been voted or selected best even out of 15 answers a couple of times. I answered this question to have my say on the subject.

I have 61% & now in level 4 a few points below 5000. I always know when to answer & what to answer. It is important to know who is asking, because if it's someone that even if I get the Nobel Price for the answer I will not get the BA, then why waist my time and effort. I pick the questions very well & I take my time to read and understand them, I check what I know in Internet when I feel I should. If I can do better than other users I give it a shot but only with a well explained and informed answer, otherwise I don't answer. If I do not know the answer I pass. If another user has an excellent answer I give a TU and don't answer. If there are over 15 answers I read them carefully & see what I can do about it, if I can I will go for it if not I will just move on. It is a matter of planning my efforts and understanding what I honestly know.
I am answering this question just to have my say never the less I must say I am quite good with Internet search engines and I read a lot in several languages. It is not a race track for points at least not for me. I call this fair play!

They pick their questions carefully (stuff they know a lot about, or questions that nobody else answered). The highest I ever got to was 22%, but I can't resist answering questions I'm unlikely to get chosen for, just to have my say.

Well, if it makes you feel better, don't vote for this one and it might drop me down to 38% . . .
Guess this debunks the "no flippant answers" hypothesis.
Don E tells you how to get from 40% to 50%.

You don't throw down frivolous answers such as "google it'.
