I know the basic steps of salsa, but for the language talent show I want to put a performance with people who most likely don't know how to dance. Since I don't have the funds to hire an instructor, does anyone know where we can get the steps shown to us? Like a nice but easy routine online or something? Thanks if you can.

I think the best way would be for you to go and take a few salsa classes specifically with the purpose to learn a few new steps. You might want to take them a as a leader. You might want to take one private lesson specifically mentioning it to the instructor that you want to learn a few steps and you want to be able to teach them to a group of people. This is how my group does it when we need to put together a performance. This would probably cost you $40 - $100 alltogether, whereas hiring an instructor to teach you all would be around $60 per hour.

Sorry, I don't think you can do it by using a media source. Not with any quality, anyway. There are steps on http://www.ballroomdancers.com and on youtube if you do a search on "learn salsa", but I don't think it's that helpful in your case. Because noone's there to correct you, you might learn it wrong and teach them wrong.

Good luck, organizing a performance can be tons of fun.

A follow up to what snowflake said...

If you go online to try to find a 'performance' you may end up copying someone else's performance and that wouldn't be good. How about a salsa DVD?

Where are you located? If you're in the NY area, I'd be happy to put together a routine for you for free. Salsa is my life and my passion and I hope to have my own studio one day!!
